Exterior Design

The fresh face of the Tiguan begins with its stylish front grille. The two bar horizontal design in elegant chrome makes it look wider and lower presenting a sharper, more sporting profile. The swept-back headlights lead the eye to the curved bodywork and on to the rear of the Tiguan, where the revised light clusters give a dynamic look. Standard on the Tiguan 155TSI, enjoy chrome plated side mouldings, distinctive chrome window surrounds and chrome roof rails.

Alloy wheels

Enjoy the stylish 16-inch Portland alloy wheels on the Tiguan 118TSI, 132TSI and 103TDI. For the Tiguan 155TSI, the 17-inch Philadelphia alloy wheels add a sporting elegance, while the impressive 10-spoke 18-inch New York Alloy wheel is optional across all models.

Panoramic glass sunroof (optional)

Specify the optional panoramic glass sunroof and flood the Tiguan’s cabin with light and a sense of spaciousness. Electrically operated, the front area of the sunroof can be adjusted into a number of positions for optimum ventilation, and if the sun is too much, a touch of a button will close the electric perforated blind, shading the cabin.

Bi-Xenon headlights (optional)

The optional Bi-Xenon headlights illuminate the road ahead with a brighter light than conventional headlights during night time driving. The stylish integrated LED daytime running lights are continually on, making the Tiguan more easily visible and recognisable during the day.

The new Tiguan 155TSI features front fog lights as standard with static cornering lights, optional on all other models. The static cornering lights illuminate the area into which you are turning at speeds up to 20km/h, brightening the road ahead allowing you to spot potential hazards sooner and more easily.

60/40 split folding rear seats

With exceptional flexibility, Tiguan has the seating or stowage arrangements to meet your needs. The rear seats split 60/40 and each side can be moved forwards or backwards by 160mm to provide extra rear legroom or increased boot space, while all but the driver’s seat can be folded flat to accommodate longer objects with ease. The new Tiguan even features a ‘load through’ provision for the rear central armrest, folded flat.

Satellite Navigation (optional)

With voice control as standard the latest generation of our Satellite Navigation system is even easier to use. Featuring a 6.5-inch touchscreen, 30GB hard drive for navigation and music storage, our latest optional Satellite Navigation system features 3D map views, is MP3 compatible and equipped with a DVD drive and SD card slot for multi-media integration.

Media Device Interface (MDI)

Located in the centre console and supplied with a USB connection cable, simply plug your iPod® or other USB enabled MP3 player into the system and enjoy your own music on the go. An iPod® cable, mini usb and 3.5mm cable is available as an accessory through Volkswagen Accessories.

Multi Function Display (MFD Plus) and Bluetooth® connectivity

The Multi Function Display (MFD) displays information such as external temperature, fuel range and speed. Control these features at your fingertips through the conveniently located buttons mounted under your thumb on the leather bound steering wheel.

Bluetooth connectivity can also be controlled through the Multi Function Display (MFD), as well as the touchscreen radio/ navigation system if equipped. Using the Multi-function controls on the steering wheel, scroll through your phone book and accept or reject calls. You can also stream music direct from your phone without the need for cables through the Bluetooth functionality. Bluetooth streaming will depend on your handset.

Leather appointed upholstery (optional)

Specify the optional Vienna leather appointed upholstery and enjoy front Sports seats, heated for those chillier mornings. The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable while rear passengers benefit from storage pockets in the back of the front seats as well as rear folding tables on the front seat backrests. Vienna leather appointed upholstery is an option across the Tiguan range and available in two elegant colours.

Nothing is more important than the safety of you and your passengers. That’s why every Tiguan comes fitted with a range of advanced safety features as standard.

Active safety

Should you need to brake unexpectedly the comprehensive range of safety systems, including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD), Engine Braking Control (EBC) and Brake Assist, will help stop the car as quickly and as safely as possible in conjunction with the front and rear disc brakes.

If road conditions demand, Tiguan features Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASL) and Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) to redistribute power to the wheel(s) with the most grip.

ABS and ASR traction control systems are integrated into the Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP). In short, ESP helps ensure that the vehicle goes where you steer it even in extreme driving conditions. The ESP system constantly compares the actual movement of the vehicle with pre-determined values and should a situation arise where the vehicle starts to skid, ESP will apply the brakes to individual wheels and automatically adjust the engine’s power output to correct the problem. ESP prevents the vehicle from losing control when trying to avoid an accident, for example. It also prevents spinning off on a curve due to either understeer or oversteer.

Passive safety

Featuring a rigid safety cell, the Tiguan’s front and rear crumple zones are designed to dissipate the effects of an impact around the passenger cabin and away from the occupants. The side impact protection system in the doors reduces the impact and helps protect passengers from side on collisions.

Safety optimised front head restraints protect front passengers from whiplash, working in conjunction with the front belt pre-tensioners with belt force limiters to hold the body in the best possible position to reduce injury. All occupants benefit from 3-point seat belts and head restraints while each rear seat features a child seat anchor point.

Airbags

The Tiguan comes standard with six airbags; twin front, front side and full length curtain airbags. Combined with your seatbelts the airbags help reduce the risk of severe head and chest injuries during collisions.

Driver fatigue (155TSI)

The 155TSI model comes equipped with Driver Fatigue Detection System. Continually monitoring your driving characteristics and inputs, the system notifies the driver via a display on the dashboard and a warning sound if it detects irregular driving.

BlueMotion Technology

Available on the 118TSI and 103TDI models, a range of environmentally efficient measures exist including 'Start/Stop' technology, Brake Energy Recuperation and the Coasting Function (Coasting Function only on 103TDI).

The Start/Stop system is designed to help you save fuel and cut emissions. As you come to a halt, the engine automatically shuts down, only to re-start the moment you release the brake.

The Brake Energy Recuperation system charges the battery when the engine is under minimal or no load. So when coasting or braking, the battery is supplied with plenty of power.

With Coasting Function selected, the momentum of the vehicle is used to save fuel with a foresighted driving style. The engine is declutched and no longer brakes the vehicle, therefore allowing the vehicle to roll out over a longer distance. When the brake, accelerator pedal or the gear selector lever is operated, the clutch is reengaged and engine braking takes effect. This feature is only available on Tiguan 103TDI.

4MOTION all-wheel drive

The advanced permanent all-wheel drive capabilities of the Tiguan offer the improved safety and stability you would expect from an all-wheel drive vehicle. The system transfers power to front or rear wheels, or both, depending on which have more grip. Ensuring you are in better control whatever the road or weather conditions.

TDI diesel engine

Turbocharged with common-rail technology, the innovative 2.0L TDI engine delivers impressive torque with exceptional fuel economy. Precise amounts of fuel are injected at exceedingly high pressure to aid performance while the diesel particulate filter helps to curb CO2 emissions. What does this mean for you? The 2.0L TDI is a cleaner burning engine with the Volkswagen performance you’d expect.

TSI petrol engines

Using innovative direct petrol injection technology, both the twincharged 1.4L TSI and turbocharged 2.0L TSI engines boast impressive fuel consumption and emissions combined with excellent torque and power output. Whatever your requirements for your journey, there’s a TSI engine to match your needs.

Park Assist 2 (optional)

Park Assist 2 makes parking problems a thing of the past. It’s a system that uses sensors mounted on the front, rear and sides of the vehicle to automatically let you know if a parking space is the right fit. Ideal for both parallel parking and 90 degree parking (like those in shopping centres). All you do is control the speed and the car steers and maneouvres for a perfect park every time.

DSG transmission (optional)

It cleverly pre-selects your next gear, then transfers power in only 3-4/100ths of a second. That's a whole lot quicker than the time it takes to say it. When Auto hold is selected you don’t need to worry about rollbacks when you’re on a slope. The DSG’s Auto Hold holds the Tiguan in place for 1.5 seconds on any incline greater than 5 percent when the foot brake is released, giving you enough time to make a smooth start.
