All we really needed to do was let in the sun and cast a modern interpretation that blends spirit, safety and style with ergonomics and pure cabriolet indulgence. With an irresistible appearance combined with advanced engineering, superb quality and generous equipment levels.

USA or Mexico?

You can enhance the visual impact of your New Beetle Cabriolet a little to match your style: the four optional alloy wheels "San Antonio", "Houston", "Acapulco" and "Sarasota" add visual highlights and give your New Beetle Cabriolet an especially dynamic character. The standard 15-inch wheel package includes steel wheels with wide 195 tyres and full wheel covers (16-inch with 205 tyres on the 110-kW model) – it also guarantees you sporty looks.

Exciting interior

The New Beetle’s refreshing design and sense of style flows through to its ergonomic interior. Quality materials and finishes define the interior space. Inside there's room for four adults and the heated power side mirrors, power steering, power windows and remote central locking are all standard. Getting comfortable is easy with the height adjustable driver’s seat and a height and reach adjustable steering wheel. The small vase in the dash complete with a flower defines the spirit of the New Beetle.

Air conditioning

The standard air conditioning incorporates a dust and pollen filter to trap airborne particles so they don't enter the cabin.

A large number of active and passive safety systems in the New Beetle Cabriolet ensure that you only need to concentrate on one thing at all times: enjoying the drive.

Reduce the risk of injury.

The New Beetle Cabriolet features standard driver and passenger front and front side/head airbags. Airbags combine with the seat belts to help reduce the risk of severe head and chest injuries in collisions. When inflated, airbags cushion the head and upper body and distribute the resulting loads over as large an area as possible.

Active Roll Over Protection System.

Safety optimised head restraints on the front seats are optimally positioned and specially contoured to help reduce whiplash injuries. In the event of an accident, excellent protection is achieved via the seatback controlling upper body movements, and this is balanced with head movements being controlled via the head restraints.

Active Roll Over Protection System: Sensors recognise a roll-over situation and activate the advanced roll over protection system in just 25 seconds. When activated, the rear head restraints pop up in a fraction of a second and when combined with the heavily strengthened windscreen frame, provide a sophisticated safety package.

3-point seatbelts are fitted to all seats.

Front seat passenger seatbelts are equipped with belt pre-tensioners and belt force limiters. Belt tensioners tighten the seatbelt on impact, pulling it closer to the occupant’s body, ideally positioning them for airbag inflation. Belt force limiters reduce seat belt forces on front seat occupants and, in conjunction with belt tensioners and airbags, lessen the risk of upper body injuries. Three-point seatbelts are fitted to all seats, and child seat anchor points are fitted in the rear.

Which is why we've made the New Beetle Cabriolet one of the safest head-turners on the road. With standard braking systems such as: Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL); and standard traction control systems such as: Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD)… looking fine doesn't get much safer.

Power to go.

The Cabriolet features an impressive petrol engine that produces 85kW of power and 172Nm of torque. It features a 5-speed manual transmission as standard or the option of a 6-speed automatic.

Let the outside in.

At the push of a button you can let the outside in. It’s simple and takes only 13 seconds. One handle locks and releases the soft top and then the roof is quickly lowered or raised by pressing a button. The New Beetle Cabriolet is a true all-weather soft top. From balmy summer evenings to torrential rain in winter, the electric folding roof is fully insulated, lined and sealed to let you make the most of any weather. The thoughtful design extends to the glass rear window complete with a demister.
