The range

From its distinctive front grille to its ergonomically designed cab and dashboard, the Crafter features the same distinctive style as seen in the rest of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles range.

The look

The Crafter design concept originated from the large truck industry. In line with the seriousness and importance of the jobs that the Crafter is called upon to do, we've kept the styling, bold, utilitarian and strong to make sure it stands out against it's competitors.

The trademark grille

The Crafter's look isn't just about aesthetics. For example, with its widely spaced horizontal lines, the grille ensures that more air can reach the cabin. In addition, a step at the base of the grille enables better access to the engine and to the windscreen for any maintenance required.

Running costs

The Crafter's engine range and 6-speed manual gearbox as standard have been further developed. Meaning that even with its larger body, higher weight and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), its fuel consumption figures are comparable to those of its famously economical predecessor. This frugal fuel consumption goes hand-in-hand with modest maintenance costs, with longer lasting parts and extended service intervals.

Driver comfort

We know that commercial vehicles are workplaces on wheels. So in the Crafter, we've increased the space in the cab for both driver and passengers, to give you maximum flexibility. The Crafter also boasts a list of impressive standard features that help create the perfect working environment.

The load space

Loading and unloading couldn't be easier with the the Crafter. Accommodating bigger loads is also made easier, with longer body length and an additional roof height option.

The Crafter provides maximum driving comfort and exceptional road holding due to its refined chassis. And should a dangerous situation appear, its comprehensive standard safety package (including driver and front passenger airbags) will help you avoid any accidents and protect you if one does occur.

Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP)

The ESP program helps the driver to avoid a loss of stability and dangerous situations by correcting understeer and oversteer. The system adapts according to the weight of the load being carried.  

Electric mirrors

The Crafter's side mirors are heated and electrically adjustable, and also come wih the option of front and rear parking sensors with LED display.

A powerhouse

Our engineers have developed a completely new range of engines for the all new Volkswagen Crafter. The 2.5L common rail TDI diesel engines are available in a variety of power outputs, from 80kW through to a thundering 120kW. Common rail technology offers reduced engine noise, whilst delivering optimum performance and impressive economy. In addition, the torque outputs vary from 280Nm up to 350Nm, which is ideal for moving big, heavy loads.

Gearbox

The lightweight Shiftmatic gearbox offers further flexibility, combining the functionality of an automatic with the characteristics of a manual. It can be operated in either a manual or automatic mode. In automatic, the gears are automatically selected when extra acceleration is needed, with a kick-down function. If the driver wants to use manual mode they simply push the gearlever forward to change down, or backwards to change up, giving all the benefits of a manual gearbox without the need for a manual clutch.

Engines

80kW TDI 2.5 litre, 5 cylinder producing 280Nm maximum torque with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

100kW TDI 2.5 litre, 5 cylinder producing 300Nm maximum torque with a 6-speed manual or Shiftmatic gearbox.

120kW TDI 2.5 litre, 5 cylinder producing 350Nm maximum torque with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
